Mission

What We Do

Our mission at Cancer Starts With Can is to provide support, resources, and inspiration to pediatric cancer patients and their families.

Mission

Our Resources

We provide pediatric cancer patients and their families with information and resources to navigate their difficult journeys. Through interviews with doctors and researchers in the field of oncology, along with cancer patients and survivors themselves, we aim to shed light on the experiences of others and give valuable advice and direction to those in need. We will also have interactive resources for cancer patients like blogs, lists of advice, and our incredible Can Review, a literary magazine that publishes the writing and art of kids with or affected by cancer younger than 21 years old.

We hope that CSWC is a platform where cancer patients and parents can come to find information and hope regarding navigating a cancer diagnosis, and leave feeling inspired by the interviews, stories, and beautiful art highlighted throughout our site.
Evie Herman

Our Founder & President

"I was diagnosed with Leukemia when I was six years old. I am now thankfully fully cured and in remission. However, to this day, I am connected with other families of recently diagnosed children with cancer, and it has always been shocking to hear how isolated parents feel due to their inaccessibility to the many pediatric cancer resources out there. This inspired me to want to create a platform where pediatric cancer families can go to learn about all the resources and support available for them. Inspired by my own love of creativity as a form of healing, I especially hope that our own literary magazine, The Can Review, gives children a voice outside their illness, and our many lists of advice, and interviews with survivors and oncologists help families gain joy and hope in such a difficult time."
